This flirtatious email etiquette

So, you know, 2008 has not been ruled out, some kind of effort. Certainly now it is questionable as to whether that effort would come under the banner of the Democratic Party. There’s no way that with the current crop of candidates who are all supporting a military action against Iran and who none of them support impeachment. They can not speak for me any longer.
An innocent man’s romanticidn’t It Hurt When You Fell From Heaven?

Is there a woman alive who would fall from these suggestions from a collection of pick-up lines?

If their top-rated suggestion does not have the desired effect, then try in one of six languages to say: “Didn’t it hurt when you fell from heaven?”
The Russians have never understood us. I have come to believe they genuinely FEAR Americans. They cannot understand our lust for freedom of thought, and action, and our willingness to take risks in order to better the generation following ours. The Russians shrink from the whole concept of opening up to the remainder of the world and becoming a part of it. Given a chance, as they had in the early 1990’s, they will always choose to shrink back into the shadows and throw up a wall, or fortress, to keep the rest of us out. And, in the case of the commies, to keep those who are “mentally imbalanced” and “tend toward western thought”, in!

So, it came as no surprised to learn this week that the Russkies have a new intercontinental ballistic missile which will, at least they say it will, penetrate our missile shield. Surprised? No! Expecting it? Yes! Event when our government offered the shield to Russia they turned it down so they could continue their lives in fear of freedom and fear that somebody, anybody, will attack and take their beloved Russia.

I have news for them. The US doesn’t want Russia. Oh, sure, we’d like to have the oil fields, but we’re not about to fight them for it. We’d rather buy it from them.

So, the “mean ole Russia” is back. In a way it is comforting. When a man reaches my age, it is somehow exhilarating to observe nations acting as we have been used to them acting. No surprises. Now, maybe, we can get back to the 2-polar world again. You know, East versus West as God intended! I mean, I became used to it. And frankly, I sorta miss it. We knew WHO our enemy was, we knew WHERE he was, and we knew how to kill him in great numbers. Beats the hell outta fighting these Islamofacists! The Russians may be paranoid, but they are NOT crazy!
Or maybe: “You must be tired because you’ve been running through my mind all day.”

Scraping in at Number 10 in the romance parade comes “The only things your email was forwarded to others for a laugh, eventually making its way into the newspapers.

All of which poses the question of how to flirt, score, start a loving relationship in an email without scaring the recipient or, alternatively, coming across as so cold as to be almost pathologically uninterested in other human beings. I frequently find new and exciting ways to make a fool of myself, especially concerning boys, and preserving such moments in written form is one of my favourite ways to do so. This flirtatious email etiquette guide is based on my own sorry experiences, with help from some equally inept friends.
Heck, from the way her platform would sound, I think she’d garner tons of support with the Democratic base and as a result, she might get as much attention as Cindy Sheehan did, except over a longer period of time, and the entire country could really get an up close and personal look at how far the left has fallen over the cliff. She’s also got friends in low places with a few credibility issues, like noted Socialism-lover

Spain

Politics is changing in Europe and none more so than in Spain. With European nationals able to vote in a country in which they are legally registered, Spanish parties are having to amend their campaign tactics. Now they must seek votes from non Spaniards who in many cases have a totally different outlook on politics in general and on how their town should be run. The wind of change is blowing in the Spanish political arena.

TCS, Wipro and Infosys. Their topline started growing handsomely reminding of the heady days of 1999-2001. In fact, all of them have projected liberal growth for 2004-05 .

With the topline, the number of employees of the IT companies also grew. Many unveiled plans to hire thousands in the coming quarters.

Home-shoring
InformationWeek reports some companies are moving call centers into homes keeping employees production and trimming costs.

“The home-shoring phenomenon comes in part as a result of the significant challenges faced in the customer relationship management (CRM) and customer care space over the last four years,” said IDC analyst Stephen Loynd in a statement.

Rather than outsource customer service to foreign firms in places like India, said Loynd, some U.S. corporations are letting call reps work from home. “Compared with traditional outsourcing and offshore, companies utilizing home-based agents can access highly skilled representatives that are closely attuned to the U.S. market at very reasonable cost,” said Loynd.
Now comes a blog that seeks to give voice to the crowds that climb the courthouse steps. Published by Tracey Broderick, In This Case allows ordinary people to describe their experiences with the law.

This recently launched blog has but a handful of posts, but I hope there will be more. My favorites so far: “I brought my breast pump to the courthouse” and “My area of the law is so raw…”

If you have a story for this blog, let Tracey know about it. She’d love to hear from you. And let’s wish her the best of luck as she uncovers for us these stories about human life and law.

Blawg Review, the traveling review of the best each week in legal blogging, will be hosted this coming Monday by one of our own.
IDC’s Loynd sees home-shoring, also called “home-sourcing,” as a way to keep the jobs inside U.S. borders.

Is Outsourcing of U.S. Jobs Bad or Good?
Seattle Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports the outsourcing debate continues with a debate between Nobel Prize winner Paul Samuelson and Columbia professor Jagdish Bhagwati. These two “mega” economists disagree whether short-term job losses brought on by outsourcing are mitigated in the long run by gains to American workers from free trade and consumption growth in low-wage countries.

“Data from Forrester Research, a leading IT consulting organization, lends support to Bhagwati’s findings with estimates that 400,000 U.S. jobs had moved abroad by 2003 and that the total would hit 3.3 million by 2015. That’s just over 200,000 jobs lost each year to global outsourcing, a trivial problem in the context of the normal churn of the U.S. economy, where about 7 million jobs were gained and lost in each of the last four quarters.”

“Yes, corporate earnings and investors are benefiting.”

“Yes, American consumers are benefiting from cheaper prices because of global outsourcing.”

wireless gear.

Garlic-Olive Oil Bread Dip

1/2 c. extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp. sea salt
1/4 tsp. course grind black pepper (or freshly ground)
3 cloves garlic, smashed and coarsely chopped
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/8 - 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
So, I decided I would go back to plan A where I would find the secret cache where Linksys technicians hid all the good bits they use to make bad products work. I called customer service again and spoke to a friendly technician in some far off land. I was able to understand most of what he said and he directed me to an ftp site which had all sorts of useful downloads. I downloaded the firmware I needed for the wireless router in several different formats, because by now I was expecting the worst.

And He got it. Linksys’s marketing department deserves a bitchslap for this one.

I can’t count the times that this sort of thing has happened to me with wireless gear. I will cut holes in my walls and pull cable before I install any wireless gear.

One time I needed to connect two buildings 275 feet apart. Bought wireless gear, set it up, and it worked right up to the point you tried to move any traffic across the network. The Solution? We moved 40 wrecked cars, dug a 2′ deep trench, installed 700 feet of industrial grade underground PVC, and installed over a thousand feet of glass fiber(we made two runs), with real expensive terminators on either end. Glass to Cat5 conversion is expensive. Works fine now.

This sort of thing happens to me on a regular basis with computer products. Take two weeks ago…
Bad Day bad day redux I had to download and flash the BIOS of a motherboard that had been on the market for 8 months, to get a CPU that had been on the market for 18 months to work. And I do this for a living!
Combine all ingredients and mix well. the longer this is allowed to set the more intense the flavor. It can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator, but let it come to room temperature before serving. Serve with nice crusty bread or any Italian type bread. It is also wonderful drizzled over pizza or spaghetti.

with a car

with a car! I was saddened to turn in my rental car earlier (yesterday now I guess). What joy! What freedom! I went all around the island and only used up half a tank of gas!

The car was a Ford Focus hatchback. Before this, I would never have considered buying a Ford, I mean, Found On Road Dead. However the car handled splendidly and had plenty of zip. The leather seats helped the experience as well. My phobia of driving over overpasses and emerging from the Pali tunnel nearly disappeared. Parking in the ubiquitous compact spaces here was super easy. Best of all, when I was parked next to Kealoha’s similar sized hatchback on Sunday I realized the Focus was long enough to hold a surfboard (I’m really trying to get up the gumption to try surfing and make it a life habit). My friend Leslee has the non-hatchback version of the Focus and she said that it is definitely not a lemon and very easy to maintain.

How Do You Define Success

How do you define success for yourself, for your life and your home business.

Well, I would say that I feel most successful whenever I can survive a full day with my girls without any major “breakdowns”. I felt successful when my 3 1/2 year old decided to start going potty after 6 months of me tirelessly trying to get her to wear regular “big girl” underpants. In fact, the day the light bulb went off, and she finally started going into the bathroom on her own and decided to retire the pullups and use her big girl pants…. I felt more successful as a mother than I ever did in all my years in business and in graduate school… funny how those things turn out.
I feel successful in my business when I make my customers and website visitors happy. Honestly, I do not make a huge or even significant income from my home based business, but I feel successful when I get an email from a customer that is happy with my site or our products.
Best of all, the Focus gets 32 mpg. It makes paying $3.35/gal seem not so unreasonable. Right now I don’t think it is the best idea to have a car - I’m uneasy about the oil supply and feel better about making a stab at being green. Parking in downtown is costly plus there is all the money that would be spent on insurance and maintenance. The only time I would want/need a car is on weekends so I can get out and really enjoy Hawaii. Leslee suggested that I could rent one weekend a month, and I’m beginning to think that’s a fantastic idea. It would certainly be affordable.

Story-a-Day
Lately I’ve felt that I haven’t set aside enough time to write fiction (and that was the point of moving to Hawaii). So, inspired by my mother’s crazy habit of writing in her journal every single day for 35+ years (I am not kidding), I’ve decided to write a story a day. Fortunately, I’m not making myself write very long stories. I probably won’t post anything longer than a 1000 words. The point of this is to mature my writing. Writing so much non-fiction kind of puts you in this weird non-fiction voice where you sound like thousands of other writers. You conform to be understood - but fiction is also about having a unique voice, and I want to develop mine.
