European News, Spain. May is an important month in Spain as all the local elections are held to decide the new mayors for each town and region. Just as in all countries, politics is a very emotive subject and no more so than in Almeria, a province located in Spain’s south east corner. In days gone by, Almeria was seen as the poor relation to the nearby Costa Del Sol but with rising building costs, the province has seen an increase in villa construction in the area, mainly the result of non Spaniards purchasing holiday homes in the region.
